HPBA is a voluntary fellowship of 70+ Southern Baptist churches in Northeast Texas committed to facilitating Kingdom growth through the work of the member churches. The association provides leadership development for pastors, staff, and lay leaders; promotes mission endeavors and the planting of new churches; and networks the resources of churches, conventions, and community institutions and agencies.
The association exists to support and edify the local church. Rather than planning, promoting, and conducting its own programs, the association works to assist the churches with their programs. All activities derive from the needs of the churches. The association is successful if the churches are successful.
The association is structured into teams for the following minstries or activities: student ministry at Northeast Texas Community College; Hispanic ministries; church planting; leader training; evangelism; missions; prayer; disaster relief; and ministerial support. Each team is led by a coordinator who serves on the associational council.
The association meets in assembly once a year to conduct business, enjoy fellowship, and encourage one another in worship. Between annual meetings, decisions are made by an Executive Board that meets on the third Tuesday of each month at the association's office in Pittsburg, Texas.
