Associational News
Folding machines available: With the executive board's approval to purchase a new folding machine, there are now two folding machines that some church or churches can have. In the past, when the association has updated technology, the older models have been made available to the first church that asks for them. Some times the church sends a modest offering to the association in return. Any church interested in acquiring one or both of the folding machines should contact the office as soon as possible.
Ruben Villanueva has submitted a letter of resignation, effective July 31, as Hispanic Church Coordinator. He expressed a desire to give more time to his pastorate and to marriage counseling among Hispanics. The executive board accepted his resignation at its meeting July 15.

The goal for the offering usually taken during the third week in May is $22,500 . The plan is to purchase and equip a trailer to be used for block parties and evangelistic events. All monies received beyond the cost of the equipment will go into the association's fund for church planting. Churches who were unable to promote the emphasis and offering during the designated week are encouraged to schedule a time convenient for them when the work of the association can be reported to the church members and an opportunity given for them to give directly to HPBA's ministry.
Seminary Extension will offer courses on Hebrews and on Philosophy of Religion. Books are available now for those who wish to get a headstart on studying for the fall classes. Students are encouraged to register no later than August 12 although registration is open until September 9. Classes begin August 19. Further details can be found on this webpage. Church News
Lakeview Baptist Church, Ore City, will ordain John Ashley and Alton "Runie" Wright as deacons on July 20, 2008. Ordaining council will convene at 1:00 p.m. with the ordination service following at 2:00 p.m. All HPBA church are invited to participate. Brian Johnson is pastor.
FBC Winnsboro will hold a farewell reception Sunday, July 20th, for Chris Robbins, minister of education and youth. He and his family are moving to Fort Worth to concentrate on his seminary studies. David Rose is pastor.
County Line Baptist Church (Daingerfield) is relinquishing its facilities to a pentecostal group. Persons who still hold membership in the church should contact James Trice as soon as possible to confirm the decision to disband the County Line Baptist congregation.

Disaster Relief Volunteers Meet
All persons involved with or interested in disaster relief ministries are requested to attend a meeting at the HPBA offices Tuesday, July 29 at 7 p.m. There is an urgent need to update training and organization before the hurricane season starts.
Women's Conference in Longview August 9

IRS Increases Mileage Rate
The IRS has announced that the business mileage rate will increase July 1 from 50.5 cents per mile to 58.5 cents per mile.
